#error : The installed DXSDK is out of date.

Hi.

I've just managed to get the source code up onto visual studio c++ 2010 express edition. I've followed the read me and I'm just trying to build the debug Win32 configuration.

The errors I'm getting at the moment are from dxut.h file saying the installed DXSDK is out of date.

However I have DirectX SDK March2009 and June 2010 files on my computer so I'm unsure what the problem is.

Any suggestions.

Not an answer to your question however I must warn you that DXUT and even DXSDK are deprecated at the moment. I understand that you just want to compile the project and it's good intention but don't spend much time learning either dxut or dx sdk classes (like ones in d3dx lib). Modern way is to use WindowsSDK8. But this have several drawback as Microsoft haven't replicated all the functionality presented in DXSDK into WinSDK. E.g. DXUT and all the GUI routines it has are NOT in the WinSDK. Even Effects Framework is now deprecated and no substitution is made.

I have worked a lot with directx9 and have worked on DirectX11 a little. So I won't be spending much time on trying to learn them as I have some knowledge. I just wanted it to compile so I can go through the code as I go through the book.

So this Windows8.1 SDK, what is it exactly? Is it to overtake DX11? or does it integrate DX11?

In terms of effects framework, do we have to use individual shaders now instead?
